U.S. Marine Capt. Travis E. Keeney peeks through the eyesight of a compass to guide his way to the landing zone during a tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel training event Feb. 15 at Nakhon Ratchasima, Kingdom of Thailand, during exercise Cobra Gold 2013. The purpose of the training was to simulate the actions a pilot should take in the event he becomes a downed pilot. Cobra Gold, in its 32nd iteration, is a multinational exercise that promotes regional prosperity, security and cooperation among partner militaries. Keeney is a pilot with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
