GySgt. Joseph Smith fires the 2A18 122-mm Soviet howitzer during the night at Combat Outpost Passerlay Feb. 11. Smith was advising members of the 4th Kandak as they fired luminary rounds to provide support to the ground elements during a two-day clearing operation in Trek Nawa.
