U.S. Marines from 3rd Marine Logistics Group purify saltwater Feb. 10 in Sattahip, Kingdom of Thailand, to provide clean water to multinational participants at various locations throughout Thailand during exercise Cobra Gold 2013. “We train how we fight,” said U.S. Marine Cpl. Omar E. Montero, a water support technician. “Everything is set up the same way it would be in a real-life scenario. It’s valuable training and a good chance for the younger Marines to gain some experience.” Cobra Gold, in its 32nd iteration, is a multinational exercise that promotes regional prosperity, security and cooperation among partner militaries. Montero is with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd MLG, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
