Marines, JGSDF train in Socal desert

Berg, a squad leader with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, a Calumet, Mich. native, shows members of the Japan Ground Self Defense Force the components of the MK-153 Shoulder Launched Multi-purpose Assault Weapon during Exercise Iron Fist 2013, aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., Jan. 28, 2013. Marines and Sailors with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Japan Ground Self Defense Force will spend a week at MCAGCC Twentynine Palms for live-fire training. During Exercise Iron Fist 2013, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit and JGSDF will spend three weeks participating in bilateral training to improve their interoperability, enhance military-to-military relations and sharpen skills essential to crisis response.
