Gunnery Sgt. Charles E. Cason Jr., a regimental mess chief with Food Service Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, briefs Brig. Gen. John J. Broadmeadow, commanding general, 1st MLG, his staff, and the evaluators on the field mess overview aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Nov. 20, 2012. The W.P.T. Hill Memorial competition determines who can produce the best field mess in the Marine Corps, and this year 1st MLG Marines claimed the title. Marines prepared several meals for the inspectors and were judged on hygiene, supervision, site selection, management, camouflage design, cooking proficiency, and presentation.
