In 2008 in Northern Baghdad, 1st Sgt. McDaniel carried the Hoe Battle Flag from Camp Taji to COP X-Ray where his unit, 2nd Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, carried the flag with them on several missions in two weeks.
