2/1 departs the 31st MEU, Okinawa

Marines and Sailors with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, unload buses here, Dec.2, to depart the island and end their role as the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit's Battalion Landing Team. The "Professionals" of 2/1, are being replaced by members of the "Old Breed,” 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, who will begin training for the 31st MEU's spring deployment
