Corporal Irvin Portugal, a squad leader serving with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, congratulates Lance Cpl. Zhi Qiang, an assaultman serving with 3rd Battalion Singapore Guards, on how well he operated during the Military Operations in Urban Terrain training during exercise Valiant Mark Dec 6, 2012. During the debrief, Portugal, a 24-year-old native of Madison, Calif., said Qiang showed his ability to adapt when he decided to go through a window to surprise the role-players instead of using the door.
