Blackburn III is also following the footsteps of his grandfather retired Command Sgt. Maj. Perry Blackburn Sr., a Vietnam veteran who served 33 years before retiring in Miami, Florida.

  • The Florida National Guard Counterdrug Program was presented the 2012 Outstanding State National Guard Civil Operations Program Award during the 2012 Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America National Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Feb. 7. Members accepting on behalf of the Florida National Guard Counterdrug Civil Operations Program included (from left) 1st Sgt. Wesley Erb, 1st Lt. Roye Locklear, Lt. Col. Michael Powers, 1st Sgt. Alain Roque, Capt. Jeanette Kingsley in addition to Maj. Gen. David Harris, director, Domestic Operations & Force Development, National Guard Bureau, Maj. Gen.
