German air force Maj. Sebastian Demitz, a pilot assigned to the U.S. Air Force 14th Airlift Squadron, reviews a preflight checklist aboard a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft Nov. 1, 2012, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C., before flying a mission in support of Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. Demitz was a member of a pilot exchange program between the United States and Germany. Sandy formed in the western Caribbean Sea and affected Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti and the Bahamas before making landfall in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
