Engineers receive Purple Hearts

Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Buchanan, I Corps deputy commanding general, awards the Purple Heart to Pfc. Gene Bills, a horizontal engineer with 14th Engineer Battalion, 555th Engineer Brigade, during a ceremony on Able Field, Oct. 22. Bills received the Purple Heart for wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device while conducting route clearance during a recent deployment to Afghanistan.
