U.S. Army Spc. Robert Nelson with 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division is awarded the Combat Action Badge by the Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Raymond T. Odierno during a ceremony at Forward Operating Base Sharana, Paktika province, Afghanistan, Sept. 19, 2012. The ceremony honored soldiers who were personally present and actively engaged by the enemy, and performed satisfactorily in accordance with the prescribed rules of engagement.
