Distinguished visitors from the Department of Emergency Management, Naval Postgraduate School and the San Francisco Fire Department, wait to board a CH-53E "Super Stallion" to take them to the USS Makin Island (LHD-8) for a guided tour and meeting with Col. Christopher Taylor, the commanding officer of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Oct. 3, 2012. This event officially kicks off the 2012 San Francisco Fleet Week. From Oct. 3-8, Marines and Sailors of the 13th MEU, I Marine Expeditionary Brigade, will participate in numerous community outreach events including the Italian Heritage Day parade, urban search and rescue demonstration, park restoration projects and hospital visits.
