Almost home: A B-17 story

George Suttle, Royal British Legion Youth Band, Brentwood, plays a trumpet military call during a commemoration service Sept. 29, 2012, at the Church of All Saints commemorating the 69th anniversary of the air disaster of the Dorsal Queen and Raunchy Wolf Sept. 26, 1943. The two B-17 Flying Fortresses collided killing 21 Americans who were returning to England following a bombing mission during World War II. Airmen assigned to RAF Mildenhall were invited to the ceremony to present a wreath in honor of the deceased.
