  • Retired 1st Sgt. Christopher Clower (right), a civilian police officer aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, is presented an award for being the Basic Law Enforcement Training honor man at Coastal Carolina Community College for the fall 2012 class. Clower was awarded the Crime Stoppers Superior Achievement Award for his overall class performance and leadership ability by the Jacksonville Onslow County Crime Stoppers. He currently serves as a reserve officer for the Swansboro, N.C., police department, as well as working aboard the base.
  • Crime Stoppers, a national crime prevention agency, hands out water bottles and T-shirts to citizens of Jacksonville, N.C., during the National Night Out, Aug. 7. More than 200 vendors spread the anti-crime message as well as kettle corn and hot dogs.
  • The Lejeune High School Marine Corps JROTC presented the colors and national ensign during the Onslow County Public Safety Awards Ceremony at the Jacksonville City Hall, Aug. 28.
  • Michael Sprayberry, the director of North Carolina Emergency Management, gave words of encouragement and showed his support for emergency services as the guest speaker of the 2013 Onslow County Public Safety Awards at the Jacksonville City Hall, Aug. 28. Katie Phifer, an emergency consolidated dispatcher aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, received the Emergency Communications Award, and Joshua Lawson, an agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, received the Law Enforcement Award.
