Staff Sgt. Heather West of Mobile, Ala., assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 402nd Field Artillery Battalion, launches a shot during the shot put event. The shot put is one of seven events in an Olympic style competition to earn the German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge. West was among 63 who were awarded the GAFMPB in gold, silver or bronze Sept. 7 by German air force unit commander Lt. Col. Nils Wetzel following the completion of the events last week.
