Marines assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit stack sea bags during the 31st MEU embarkation aboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6). Bonhomme Richard embarked the 31st MEU to begin conducting amphibious operations in the Western Pacific. Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group is comprised of amphibious assault ship Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46), amphibious transport dock USS Denver (LPD 9), the 31st MEU, Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 11 and Naval Beach Unit 7.
