Deployment: A family affair

Sgt. 1st Class Stephen Latch, mobility chief, and Staff Sgt. The married couple deployed from Fort Hood's 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command in December of 2011. This is their second deployment together; they try to stay on the same deployment cycle by choice.

The unit at their home station of Fort Hood, Texas, had several birthday week events. To send a happy birthday message, deployed members of the "Lucky 13th" sent a birthday greeting video home for all to see.

Cornett, operational contact support non-commissioned officer in charge, originally deployed from Fort Hood's 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, leads a group in dancing the "zombie dance" to Michael Jackson's hit song, "Thriller," Oct. 28 at the Camp Eggers clamshell during the Deputy Command of Support Operations, NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan "Halloween SPOoktacular" team-building event. The directorate organizes one team building event a month, usually choosing a theme for the activities.
  • Brig. Gen. Clark W. LeMasters Jr., deputy commander of Support Operations under NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan responds to a question during the DCOM-SPO Commander's Conference on July 13 at Camp Eggers, Afghanistan. The conference ran July 13-14, allowing all regional support command teams to participate and interact with each other and with the staff of their higher headquarters.  NATO Training Mission - Afghanistan, is a coalition of 38 troop-contributing nations charged with assisting the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in generating a capable and sustainable Afghan National Security Force ready to take lead of their country's security by 2014.
