Three local girls enjoy the Arzu Studio Hope garden and playground in Dragon Valley, west of the town of Bamyan, June 20, 2012. Women enrolled in the program receive higher than average compensation for their work as weavers and they, their children, and any female in the household are required to attend literacy classes. The women also have access to day care for their children, a laundry, a kitchen, and a garden where they can grow their own vegetables and herbs. Older children can also learn the skills to weave rugs.
