    24th Marine Expeditionary Unit

The Cobras are part of the "Skid" detachment for the aviation combat element of 24th MEU and are home-based out of Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 269. The 24th MEU is deployed as part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group, a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
