Children of San Clemente chase each other during a homecoming parade for 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, in downtown San Clemente, June 14. The parade celebrated Flag Day, the 2nd Bn., 4th Marines return from Afghanistan and the Vietnam veterans who never received a welcome home parade, according to Wayne Eggleston, the executive director of the Heritage of San Clemente Foundation. "It was really overwhelming," Eggleston said. "I didn't expect thousands of people to be on the street. It was just filled, block after block, and also with school children waving American flags."
