Powerline Marines, with Marine Attack Squadron 231, conduct pre-flight inspections on the unit’s AV-8B Harriers on the flight line at Cherry Point, June 8. The powerline Marines handle the launching and recovery of aircraft, as well as the engine maintenance and fueling. In preparation for an upcoming deployment to Afghanistan, the squadron heads to 29 Palms, Calif., next month for the deployment training exercise, Enhanced Mojave Viper.
