Staff Sgt. Mikel Turner prepares the first of his two legs on a 62-mile relay race as part of team “For Wallace,” an Idaho Air National Guard team, June 9, in the Sawtooth Mountain range, Idaho. Turner is a member of the 124th Security Forces and is competing with fellow teammates from the Idaho Air Guard who are the single largest organization to participate in the 2012 Sawtooth Relay race, which had six-person teams covering 62-miles through central Idaho, from Stanley to Sun Valley over elevations as high as 8,700 feet.
