A Marine with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, attached to the USS New York's combat cargo department, observes an AS-332 Super Puma pick up supplies from the flight deck of the USNS Carl Brashear as she resupplies the New York while at sea, June 5, 2012. The New York, built with seven-and-a-half tons of World Trade Center steel, is making her maiden deployment, carrying Marines and sailors with the 24th MEU and Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group, who are currently deployed to the U.S Central Command area of operations as a theater reserve and crisis response force. The group is providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
