82nd Airborne soldiers die in Afghanistan

Two 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, pilots died following a helicopter crash in eastern Afghanistan June 6. Capt. Scott Pace, 33, of Brawley, Calif., and 1st Lt. Mathew Fazzari, 25, of College Place, Wash., died of injuries caused when their OH-58D Kiowa helicopter was engaged by enemy forces in Ghazni province, Afghanistan.

  • Chief Warrant Officer 2 Thalia Ramirez was killed when her OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter crashed in eastern Afghanistan Sept. 5, 2012.  Ramirez was assigned to Troop F, 1-17 Air Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division.

Jamison, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade commander of Broken Arrow, Okla., awards Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jose Montenegro Jr. of San Juan, Texas, with the Air Medal Aug. 30, 2012, on Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan. Montnegro, an OH-58D Kiowa Warrior pilot assigned to Troop F, 1-17 Air Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, was killed when his helicopter crashed in Logar province, Afghanistan, Sept. 5, 2012.
