Navy Riverine's celebrate 6th birthday

Riverine sailors celebrated Navy Riverine Force's 6th birthday with a half-marathon at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach, Va. The Riverines were reactivated in 2006 to provide river patrol, interdiction and tactical troop movement on inland waterways. The Riverine Force is responsible for providing an offensive combat component to Navy Expeditionary Combat Command and Navy brown water operating areas.

Riverines use the Puma for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as force protection measures.  The visit provided Echandia an opportunity to learn more about NECC capabilities and how riverine sailors operate in inland waterways around the world.
