Navy Seabees board a V-22 Osprey in the Bakwa district of Farah province, Afghanistan, concluding a visit with Seabees of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 11 and their Italian counterparts with whom they are partnered on Forward Operating Base Lavaredo. Among them is Rear Adm. Mark A. Handley, commander of 1st Naval Construction Division, Capt. Kathryn A. Donovan, commodore of the 22nd Naval Construction Regiment, Cmdr. Lore Aguayo, commander of NMCB-11, Command Master Chief John F. Mulholland, 1-NCD, Command Master Chief Mark E. Kraninger, 22-NCR, and Command Master Chief Christopher Levesque, NMCB-11. Homeported in Gulfport, Miss., NMCB-11 is deployed to Afghanistan to conduct general, mobility, survivability engineering operations, defensive operations, Afghan National Army partnering and detachment of units in combined/joint operations area - Afghanistan in order to enable the neutralization of the insurgency and support improved governance and stability operations.
