Jesse Love, a civilian firefighter aboard Forward Operating Base Delaram II, Afghanistan, crosses the finish line of the shadow version of the Marine Corps Historic Half marathon on base, May 20, 2012. This race took place on the same day as the Historic Half in Fredericksburg, Va. His wife, Jenny, is running the stateside race. The 33 Marines, sailors and civilians who took part in the Afghanistan race all finished and received official Historic Half t-shirts and finisher’s medals at the end of the 13.1 mile run. The men’s winner was Capt. Patrick Sullivan who finished in 1:37:21. The women’s winner was Navy Lt. Rebecca Murphy at 1:48:51.
