Sgt. Zachary Wood, a crew chief and non-commissioned officer in charge with Marine Transport Squadron 1, observes Cpl. Kyle Smith, a rescue swimmer with VMR-1, training Lance Cpl. Anthony DiCola, a crew chief with VMR-1, conduct a three-hour flight throughout the Carolina coast April 27. The day’s mission included a range sweep to ensure fishermen, hunters and recreational boaters maintained appropriate clearances from target areas, on-the-job training for DiCola and taking photos of the landing zones used by the squadron for rapid response missions.
