Cpl. Justin Gaertner, native of New Port Richey, Fla., prepares to shoot the ball during the Marine Corps versus Navy/Coast Guard wheelchair basketball during the 2012 Warrior Games at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 1. Gaertner, a bilateral above-knee amputee, placed second in the hand-cycling competition earlier in the day. The All-Marine Warrior Games wheelchair basketball team beat the Navy/Coast Guard team by 40 points in their first match of the Games. The 2012 Warrior Games gives ill, injured and wounded service members from every military branch the opportunity to compete in seven athletic competitions during the week-long events.
