  • Capt. Andrew Farina, 25th Infantry Division, exits Victory Pond pulling he and his partner's back packs after being dropped in the water by a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter known as a helocast and swimming across the pond with their gear on day three of the Army's 2007 Best Ranger Competition.  Farina and his parter Capt. David Uthlaut finished the 60-hour continuous competition in second place.  The event took the finishing teams over 60 miles by foot carrying over 85 lbs. of equipment.
  • 1st Lt. Nicholas Polcar, Wisconsin National Guard, poses for a picture with his father, Scott Polcar of Sheboygan, Wis., outside Arlington Hall in Arlington, Va., Aug. 21. Polcar, along with his teammate, Capt. Robert Killian of the Colorado National Guard placed sixth in the Best Ranger Team competition at the Best Warrior Competition in Fort Benning, Ga, one of the highest placements achieved by Guardsmen. Polcar, alongside the Best Non-commissioned Officer of the Year, the Best Soldier of the Year and the Best Recruiter of the Year will spend the week touring the city, and attending events in honor of their significant accomplishments.
