A U.S. Navy landing craft heads into port while U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Adak and its crew get underway for a maritime security patrol in the Persian Gulf. Adak is one of six 110-foot Coast Guard patrol boats that make up the Patrol Forces Southwest Asia. Adak is conducting maritime security operations (MSO) in the gulf as part of Combined Task Force 158. MSO helps set the conditions for security and stability in the Persian Gulf and protects Iraq's sea-based infrastructure to help provide the Iraqi people the opportunity for self-determination.
