Gen. David Rodriguez, commanding general, U.S. Army Forces Command, embraces Michelle Benavidez, after the ceremonial first mile of a 1,080-mile march, that began at Fort Carson, April 13, 2012, after a rally to honor their son, Kenneth Mayne, a 4th Infantry Division soldier who was killed during a deployment to Iraq in 2008. The Benavidez family planned the walk to honor and raise awareness for the service and sacrifice of soldiers and their families.
