Marines honor, remember fallen brother in southern Helmand

U.S. Marine Col. Roger B. Turner (left), the commanding officer of Regimental Combat Team 5, and Sgt. Maj. Alberto Ruiz, the RCT-5 sergeant major observe a moment of silence in respect of Lance Cpl. Ramon T. Kaipat, an infantryman who served with Charlie Company, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, and 22-year-old native of Tacoma, Wash., during a memorial service here, April 16, 2012. Kaipat was killed in action during a dismounted patrol in support of combat operations in Helmand province’s Khan Neshin district. Kaipat’s brothers-in-arms remember him as a caring and humble warrior, who placed the welfare of his fellow Marines before his own.
