Captain's college experience sets stage for success

While on patrol in Maiwand district, April 4, Capt. Daniel F. Gwosch the Company commander for Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, (Center) one of his troops and a soldier from the Afghan National Army pull security. Alpha Company was the blocking element for Operation Sham Shir, a joint mission involving Afghan National Security Forces and U.S. forces whose objective was to push enemy combatants further out of the southern part of Kandahar province.
