    Operation Onward Liberty

An Armed Forces of Liberia soldier practices first aid procedures as his AFL instructors observe during warrior leadership course instruction at Edward Binyah Kesselly Military Barracks March 21. For the first time in the WLC course, AFL soldiers served as trainers to their fellow non-commissioned officers during the two week course. Supervision of the trainers was provided by Security Assistance Training Management Organization, Ft. Bragg, N.C. The goal of the WLC course is to build up the leadership capacity within the AFL enlisted ranks. In addition to specialized blocks of instruction, day to day mentorship of the AFL is provided by Operation Onward Liberty, a group of approximately 50 U.S. military personnel who mentor and advise the AFL in order to develop a national military that is responsible, operationally capable, respectful of civilian authority and the rule of law, and is a force for good among the Liberian people.
