USS Tortuga Participates in Disaster Excercise in Japan

Senior Chief Petty Officer Victor Gonzales, a boatswain's mate, points simulated evacuees in the direction of a landing craft air cushion (LCAC), assigned to dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46), during a Japan and Tokyo Metropolitan Government disaster relief drill, Sept. 1. The exercise allowed the U.S. Navy and Japan Maritime Self Defense Force to enhance joint readiness.
