Don’t Tread On Me: Afghan forces, Marines disrupt insurgent activity ahead of fighting season

U.S. Marine Capt. Owen Boyce, the commanding officer of Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, and a native of Simsbury, Conn., uses a radio to relay an update to a fellow Marine while searching a compound for narcotics and insurgent materiel with Afghan National Army soldiers from 2nd Kandak, 1st Brigade, 215th Corps, during Operation Zema Parma Sar Tera (Don't Tread On Me) here, April 1, 2012. Afghan National Security Forces and Marines are conducting a variety of missions throughout Helmand province's Garmsir district ahead of the annual fighting season built around the harvest of illicit poppy crops.
