Staff Sgt. Joseph Austin of the Oregon Army National Guard's 3rd battalion, 116th Cavalry receives the Oregon Commendation Medal from the Oregon National Guard State Command Sergeant Major, Command Sgt. Maj. Brunk Conley, after winning the Oregon National Guard Non-commissioned officer of the Year at the Best Warrior Competition, March 18, on Camp Rilea in Warrenton, Ore. Austin is scheduled compete in the regional NCO of the year competition.
