Col. John E. Kasperski shakes hands with Col. Tomoyuki Hagi from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force signifying the beginning of exercise Forest Light 12-2 here March 4. The purpose of Forest Light 12-2 is to enhance the interoperability of Marines and JGSDF members while increasing individual and unit readiness in a cold weather environment. Kasperski is the commanding officer for Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force. Hagi is the commanding officer for 4th Infantry Regiment, 5th Brigade, JGSDF.
