Soldier embodies 'Warrior Ethos,' pursues Purple Heart for fallen comrade

Col. Patrick Slowey, Army Support Activity-Dix commander, speaks to the family members and relays the heroic story of how Sgt. Edward Oryll, a tank mechanic with the 750th Tank Battalion, lost his life saving his best friend and fellow World War II soldier Cpl. Michael Altamura, on the battle fields of Europe. Oryll was awarded five medals to include: the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal posthumously during the ceremony March 9 at ASA-Dix Headquarters.
