Crouched behind the monitor and controls, eighth grade student Haeden Dyar operates the Talon, one of the three types of robots First Army's Robotic System Joint Project in Detroit provided for a hands on demonstration at Pontotoc schools. Jim Drysdale (left), one of the three of their trainers First Army also provided, says the Talon can drag up to 200 pounds, lift 25 pounds with "arm" extended, and 40 pounds with "arm" close to the chassis. The Talon can move rocks out of the way, open a car door, "look" in a car with its 360 degree infrared camera, and "listen" to what is going on with its microphone.
