Nursing students from Northern Arizona University got involved in the action during Desert Impact 12. The students assisted in triaging casualties, separating them by the severity of their injuries for transport to either the station’s Branch Medical Clinic for minor injuries, or Yuma Regional Medical Center by ambulance or helicopter for moderate to major injuries. The exercise allowed the student nurses to practice the skills they would need should they be called into assist in a natural disaster.
