Retired Col. Danny McKnight, who was the battalion commander of Task Force Ranger when they were deployed to Somalia in 1993 and whose unit is the basis for the movie “Black Hawk Down,” thanks Staff Sgt. Stephanie Hawkins, a financial management technician with Company B, 33rd Financial Management Company attached to 204th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, for singing “God Bless America” during a prayer luncheon held at Forward Operating Base Walton, Feb. 6. “You really touched me today,” McKnight said. “The song you sang was the song we sang every morning in Mogadishu, Somalia, as part of Task Force Ranger, to start our day.”
