Two recently released detainees await transportation in a U.S. Army CH-47 Chinook helicopter to Combat Outpost Pul'e Alem in Logar province, Afghanistan, Feb. 2, 2012. The former detainees were transported from the Detention Facility in Parwan to Logar, their home province, where they were formally released back to their families and villages after they confirmed their commitment to live a peaceful way of life and signed pledges to renounce violence. Since the Afghan-led reintegration program began in 2010, more than 550 detainees have been released at community shuras in 13 provinces after a careful review board process determined their sustainability for reintegration.
