Heroic bomb, attack dog 'Valdo' saves four coalition lives

Petty Officer 2nd Class Valdo, Navy military working dog, locates improvised explosive device making materials during a training session at Forward Operating Base Todd, Bala Murghab District, Baghdis Province, Afghanistan, April 2, 2011. The following day, Valdo embarked on a foot patrol into a known insurgent hotbed to sniff out mines, IEDs and booby traps. During an April 4 firefight, Valdo was wounded by a rocket propelled grenade and as of April 5 was in stable condition at Camp Arena, Herat.
