Marines from Regimental Landing Team 2 receive their life jackets aboard the USS Kearsarge, Jan. 29, before going to sea for Exercise Bold Alligator 2012. As the Marines train for combat and test their amphibious capabilities, safety remains a major factor in all training during the largest naval amphibious exercise in the past 10 years. This exercise represents the Navy and Marine Corps’ revitalization of the full range of amphibious operations. The exercise focuses on today’s fight with today’s forces, while showcasing the advantages of seabasing. The exercise will take place between Jan. 30 and Feb. 12 afloat and ashore in and around Virginia and North Carolina.
