U.S. service members embarked aboard High Speed Vessel Swift, stand for the Peruvian colors with Peruvian service members on Base Naval de Callao. The two different militaries are working together at the Callao Naval base, to refurbish schools, exchange subject mater expertise, and assist in animal research and military working dog care, as part of Southern Partnership Station 2012. HSV-SPS 12 is an annual deployment of U.S. Navy ships and assets to the U.S. Southern Command's area of responsibility in the Caribbean, Central and South America. The exercise involves information sharing with Navies, Coast Guards and civilian services throughout the region.
