Japanese soldiers ‘make ready’ at live-fire training

A soldier with the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force employs an 81 mm mortar at Range 222 on Camp Pendleton, Jan. 25. The training was planned in a crawl, walk, run format, designed to build confidence in the soldiers’ with their weapons. The 5-day evolution was a part of Exercise Iron Fist 2012, a bilateral training opportunity for the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the JGSDF.
