Sgt. Joshua Watson, the ETT platoon sergeant, said the academy— the first-ever in Garmsir district — gave the Afghan NCOs an opportunity to develop their leadership skills based on the Marines’ guidance on “how to set the standard.” The Marines prepared their Afghan counterparts to lead physical training sessions, to account for and properly pack their gear, and conducted weapons handling and calibration exercises.
